Owner Manager of the Year

The Owner Manager of the Year category identifies an individual business owner who manages and leads a business from any industry sector.

If the business is co-owned, they must hold a minimum of 50% equity in the business. Nominees may be head of an innovative start-up, an entrepreneur who has taken a creative idea to market or a business owner who operates with extraordinary business acumen.

The owner manager must have actively managed a business with five or more employees for at least 12 months.

Please note, this category is open to nominations from individual owner managers only. Joint nominations cannot be accepted. The nominee must have a 50% or more share in the business if there is more than one owner.

There are many awards for small business operators that honour the organisations commitment to quality. The Management Excellence Awards specifically honour the individual and their contribution to management and leadership excellence.

Nominees must be able to demonstrate:

(a) Management excellence and ongoing best practice in their own business

(b) Survival strategies for the continuation and/or growth of the business

(c) Effective communication of their organisation's goals and vision to all stakeholders

(d) Leadership and/or mentoring capabilities

(e) Demonstrated financial success

Please note, nominees aged between 18 and 30 years may wish to instead apply for Young Manager of the Year.
