Wednesday 12 July 2006 Record Nominations for Management AwardsQueensland ’s best managers have enthusiastically embraced this years Management Excellence Awards with record nominations recorded across the State. “The level of interest and support we have received this year has been fantastic” said Carolyn Barker AM FAIM, CEO of the Australian Institute of Management. “The record numbers of nominations this year is a further sign of how people are recognising and acknowledging the skills required to be an excellent manager This is an exciting time for Management in Queensland” With nominations closing this Friday 30 June, now is the time for nominee’s to put the finishing touches on their applications – Due 14 July. “I know what it’s like when you’re busy and you put things to one side, thinking I’ll get around to that! We don’t want people to miss out on contesting the awards, simply because they don’t get their application in on time. Past winners include Don Meij, CEO Domino’s Pizza, Robert Falzon from leading furniture designer FMCA and Serena Zipf, Owner Rocky Point Prawn Farm “Our previous winners and indeed all nominees say that they gain a great deal from simply taking part in the awards,” Ms Barker “The judging process encourages people to reflect on their work history, to examine their own managerial style and look at ways of developing their skills. Regional finals will be held over the next few months and then regional winners will compete against each other at the State Final in November.
